Amedeo Clemente Modigliani, also known by the pseudonym Modi and Dedo was born in Livorno on 12 July 1884, painter and sculptor famous for his female portraits characterized by stylized faces and tapered necks.

He died of tuberculosis in Paris on 24 January 1920 at the age of thirty-five
Since adolescence Amedeo was in fact suffering from various health problems including depression also shared by a stubborn nature and independent, who dragged him to the abuse of drugs and alcohol.

On December 3, 1917 was held at the Galleries Berthe Weil’s first solo exhibition of Modigliani. The head of the Paris police was scandalized by the immorality of Modigliani’s nudes in the window, and forced him to close the exhibition within hours of its opening.
That same year, Modigliani received a letter from a former lover, Simone Thiroux, a French-Canadian girl, who told him to be back in Canada, and to have given birth to a son, had from him.

ย Modigliani never recognized the child, and he moved to Provence, where he found the great love, in Jeanne Hebuterne, a budding painter that on November 29, 1918 gave birth to a girl, who was also named Jeanne.
On May 1919 he returned to Paris, where, along with Jeanne and their daughter, he rented an apartment in the Rue de la Grande Chaumiere. While living there, both Jeanne and Modigliani painted portraits of each other and both of them together.
ย The short life of Modigliani fell in tragedy and tuberculosis extinguished him at the Hรดpital de la Charitรฉ.

Jeanne Hebuterne, who was brought into the house of his parents and was pregnant with her second child, after the death of Amedeo jumped from a window on the fifth floor.
ย Modigliani was buried in Pere Lachaise cemetery in the early afternoon on 27 January.
Jeanne Hebuterne was buried the day after at the Parisian cemetery of Bagneux, near Paris, and it was only in 1930 that his family conceded that her remains were put to rest beside those of Modigliani, damned artist.
