Claude Monet
Oscar Claude Monet was born in Paris in 1840, but he spent his childhood in Le Havre.
ย Perhaps, most of all, he is the painter whoย ย represents to our our eyes the “Impressionism”.
ย In 1859, he enrolled at the Acadรฉmie Suisse in Paris and began attending the Brasserie des Martyrs, a meeting place for artists and intellectuals, where he met
Edward Manet (Gardens at Versailles)
Gustave Courbet (Deers on the snow)
and other artists.
In 1870, at the outbreak of the France-Prussian War, he went to live in London.
ย Back in France, beset by economic difficulties he moved to Argenteuil;
Nineties’ are the cycles of the cathedrals of Rouen
and those dedicated to the Water Lilies.
The last years of his life were marked by a serious eye disease;
heย died almost blind in 1926 in Giverny
